“You have a reputation for being alive but you are dead…See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength…You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing. But you do not realize that you are wretched…I stand at the door and knock.’ ”
The contrast between how we feel about ourselves or our circumstances and what God’s perspective of our lives or capacity can be quite different. As Jesus walks among the lampstands of His Church He sees our weaknesses, our sins, and our potential.
Do we value our reputation of spiritual health more than the reality of obedience and walking with Jesus?
In spite of our weakness, does God still place open doors of opportunity in front of us?
Would we be willing to trade intimacy with Jesus for the self sufficiency of our wealth?
Jesus always comes in truth, but are we open to hearing His perspective?
We are left with choices, promises and consequences.
Lord Jesus, show me my life from your perspective this day. I choose you and your ways. Thank you for your Spirit and your Word to guide and lead me.
