The Call
Ezekiel 3:5-7
“You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and strange language, but to the people of Israel – not to many peoples of obscure speech and strange language, whose words you cannot understand. Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. But the people of Israel are not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me.”
Do we see our own culture and people as a mission field?
As God says to Ezekiel, sometimes people from other cultures are more responsive to God’s Word and the gospel, than our own culture is. Ezekiel needed to see himself as one sent on a mission by God to reach his own people.
Do we see ourselves that way?
God prepares Ezekiel for a resistant audience and says the reason Israel’s hearts are hard is that they were not listening to God, so why would they listen to His servants.
Are we listening to God?
It is the voice of the Spirit and the Word of God which must fall like rain on our hearts to soften them.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your Word and your call in my life. I choose to say yes to you this day regardless of the cost.
