Lord This Hurts, but You Care!Намуна
Fear & Doubt (Part 2)
When our child made a very heartbreaking decision, it hit so very differently from other people who have hurt me over the years. It hit in a way that crushed my very spirit to the core. Somehow, though, I think that “because” it was our child and I had been in God’s Word and in prayer daily, it put a fight in me to bombard the throne of heaven for my child in a way I never had before. (Col 1:9-12) These two acts of obedience melted away the fears and doubts.
When your child makes rough choices, it can feel like your whole world has crashed and burned. Fear and doubt rear their ugly heads. That child is a literal piece of you. It hits differently than your parent, sibling, or other family members or friends.
Maybe your loved one has slipped off into the abyss of alcohol or drugs. Maybe he/she has gone off the rails by putting themselves in a relationship that does not honor The Lord they were raised to honor. Maybe it’s a direct cut-off of a relationship with you without good reason. Maybe your loved one has been given a diagnosis that is so very painful for you to live with, as well as him/her. Maybe it’s a bad attitude toward church in general, and they have refused, as an adult, to go anymore. Countless different scenarios could be your person’s issue. We must pray these out as we ask for forgiveness for ourselves of any fear and doubt that we might have let creep in that could be preventing The Lord from responding.
Luke 18 tells us what Jesus thought about praying without ceasing and how effective it is. He tells us to "keep asking!”
Until He delivers that loved one, my friend, keep asking! But let me warn you! When you ask…make sure your own heart is clean before God. The Lord doesn’t typically move when we pray while we are still walking in the sin of the flesh and “not” walking in The Spirit, ourselves.
It’s human nature that certain circumstances and situations cause us to panic and have particular emotions that are difficult to control. We do, however, have an Instruction Manual. We must use God’s Word to deal with these emotions.
Emotions wax and wane, which is why they cannot be trusted. God’s Word, however, can be fully trusted and relied upon. It never changes! Let’s lean in hard! Leaning into The Lord and what He has for us crushes all fear and doubt! Don't lean on your understanding of what’s going on. That will catapult you down the wrong path.
PRAYER
God, I know my path is not Your will for me or my loved ones. Please align my will with Yours, Father God. Help me trust You, especially when my eyes cannot see, my heart does not understand, and I am hurt. I ask You, Jesus, to bring my loved one/s into the center of Your perfect will, and may You get all the glory and honor. In Jesus' Name, I pray, Amen.
