Women of the Bible

DAY 17 OF 30

Ruth

Ruth was a beautiful example of a woman who exemplified characteristics consistent with a life of faith. She was a Moabite woman who married into an Israelite family. When tragedy struck, and her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law passed away, she was presented with a significant decision. Would she return to her parents and people, or would she follow her mother-in-law, Naomi, back to Bethlehem? Ruth decided to accompany Naomi back to her homeland, but more importantly, she decided to embrace Naomi's God, the God of Israel.

So many thoughts and feelings had to have been racing through Ruth's head, but she chose to follow the genuine and honest faith Naomi and her family had obviously modeled for her. And so Ruth and Naomi journeyed together. Throughout the book of Ruth, we see her grow in obedience, trust, and faith. Ruth is a beautiful example of one who exhibited loyalty, honesty, kindness, and love in all of her relationships.

1. Can others see godly characteristics in my life?

2. In what ways am I representing Christ in my life? How and where can I improve?

Prayer: Lord, help me to exhibit godly character in my relationships and my actions.

About this Plan

Women of the Bible

Eve and Mary may be the most well-known in Scripture, but the Bible is chock-full of women with rich character, bold faith, and powerful testimonies. Join us as we briefly study 30 “Women of the Bible” and learn about the ways God used them, sustained them, emboldened them, and provided for them. Women have been a part of God’s plan from the Garden of Eden until the present day. We pray your faith is encouraged and strengthened by spending some time getting to know these women’s accounts.
