Breakfast Bites

DAY 3 OF 7

Your Ways

Think of a food you enjoyed as a child that you no longer find palatable, or a childhood game so simple that you can scarcely believe how many hours you once whiled away, enthralled. Where before we couldn’t even taste extra sugar, our faces now contort from the overwhelming sweetness. Tic-Tac-Toe is only fun if you go first, and even then it’s only fun for a round or two. With maturity comes discernment.

Examine your current life through God’s eyes. Are there things clamoring for your attention that, when held up to the lens of eternity with the Father, lose their luster? Might some of the discontentment you feel in your daily life be eliminated simply by losing your taste for things that don’t really matter?

Lord, I pray these words over my life: Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things! I want to follow your gaze and see what you see. I know yours is the way of life, and it is life—real life—that I crave this morning.

Some kids don’t like to eat very much in the mornings, but their growing bodies need quality food to fuel their day. In fact, studies show that children who eat a nutritious breakfast benefit from improved concentration, problem-solving skills, and hand-eye coordination.
