"The Power" READY After ten days of praying and waiting on God, the Holy Spirit came. We can only imagine what it was like. Luke tries his best to describe it with “violent wind and tongues of fire.” But it can’t capture the whole idea. Whatever it was, it must have been awesome. But thing we know for sure, is that every time the Holy Spirit showed up, people were filled with power. In 1 Samuel 10:6, Samuel is telling Saul that when the Holy Spirit comes, he would be changed to a different person. In Samuel 16, when Samuel anointed David, it says the Spirit came on him with power. When the Holy Spirit came on Saul and David, they acted differently. They attempted and did great things for God. They were like different people. When the Holy Spirit came on the disciples, they were transformed. In the past they were cowardly, constantly fighting about small things, and only concerned with themselves. All of a sudden they were bold, eloquent, and united in their desire to preach about Jesus. You also have the power of the Holy Spirit. You’re not the person you were before. You will do great things for Jesus. SET Are you still afraid of preaching the gospel to your campus? Are you ready to face mockery, persecutions and trials as a result of obeying God's great commission? GO Be confident in preaching the gospel today and for the rest of your life knowing that you are backed up by the power of the Holy Spirit.
