Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
Peter and two other Apostles were specifically chosen by Jesus at that time to accompany him up the sacred mountain, to see him transformed into radiant appearance and to hear the voice of Almighty God speaking out of a cloud: “This is my beloved Son!” But in this section of his epistle, Peter says something amazing; he claims that we Christians have something far more certain even that that astonishing experience on which to base our faith--the prophetic word.
The written word of God is more certain than any spiritual experience we could ever have! Why? Because it can never change, and is not subject to the corruption of faulty memories that come after the experience has occurred. The memory of the experience can fade gradually over time, and mental weeds can start growing up which cloud the facts of what actually occurred.
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 1:17, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look in the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1:1-17 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 1:18 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
