Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
Throughout the second chapter of this epistle, Peter warns us about the deadly danger of false teachers. Let’s look at this chapter in two parts.
In verses 1-10, Peter speaks of the inevitable threat of false teachers; false teachers will most certainly come but will receive terrifying judgment at the hands of an enraged and protective God. Satan has concocted three great threats against the church of Jesus Christ, and he has thrown these three at the church in every generation: worldliness, persecution, and false teaching.
Of these three, false teaching is the most dangerous, because it poisons the very food of the people of God, thus threatening their souls.
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 2:1, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1-2:1 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 2:2 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
