Extended Memorization Of Scripture: 2 PeterSample
False teachers tend to come in two major categories: those characterized by legalism or license.
The Apostle Paul addresses the legalistic type in Galatians, known as the Judaizers, who were teaching that salvation comes by rigorous obedience to the Laws of Moses, not by faith in Christ alone.
In this chapter, Peter addresses the other sort of false teachers, who teach that the grace of God in Christ frees us from the need for any moral restraints at all. Peter says that, just as false prophets arose in the Old Testament era, so now false teachers will certainly rise in our time (v. 1). They will secretly introduce destructive heresies and will cause the way of truth to be blasphemed.
Recite yesterday’s verse, 2 Peter 2:2, ten times, being sure to include the verse number. Again, you should look at the screen if you need to refresh your memory. Old verses next, altogether: Recite 2 Peter 1-2:2 together once, being sure to include the verse numbers.
Now, recite your new verse. Read 2 Peter 2:3 out loud ten times, looking at each word as if photographing it with your eyes. Be sure to include the verse number. Then cover the screen and recite the verse ten times.
