Losing: Tenth Avenue North

Have you ever played the game Angry Birds™? You know, that game where there’s a bunch of these “angry” birds, trying to battle an army of pigs? It’s kind of ridiculous when you think of it, but yet it’s wildly popular. The point of the game is to slingshot the angry bird towards the pigs, knocking down the structures the pigs are hiding in, thus killing the pig. There’s one problem though, the act also kills the bird - it’s a suicide mission.

I feel like this is a great picture of what happens when we don’t forgive people. We think it’s damaging the other person, but yet it really just hurts ourselves. The problem is this; we think that if we put our defenses down and choose to forgive, we’ll somehow become the loser in the situation.

Jesus said to forgive one another as he has forgiven us. I think about my stuff, my shortcomings, my failures, my sin, and yet with all of that Jesus still forgives me! He even forgives the stuff that is not on the surface, but in the heart. So, if we want to be more like Jesus, we have to choose to forgive like Jesus.

Today, is there anyone in your heart in which you have not forgiven or made amends with? Ask God to show you areas in which you need to forgive others, and take steps towards that.
