Good Shepherd 

My friend, rejoice for this is the day the Lord has made for you. God will do new things in your life this New Year. From this day He will carry you on His shoulders like a shepherd. A good shepherd takes immense care of his sheep. He keenly watches over them to keep them away from the danger of wild animals and poisonous plants. A shepherd’s primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of his flocks. He makes sure to tend them and feed them with good food. And the most important quality is that no matter how huge the herd is, he always finds time to take care of each one of them. Yes, there is an intimate relationship between the shepherd and his flock. 

Today, are you worried saying, “Oh, God has many other works to do; I am just a drop of water in the ocean of people. He may have no time to care for me.” Let me say this to you, my friend, when Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd”, He meant that He would watch over you, He meant that He will protect you from evil, He meant that He will walk before you and make your paths straight. He will lead you in green pastures. Yes, as a good shepherd He ensures that you are prosperous. Jesus knows you by your name and even if you go away from Him, He will come in search of you. This is the love of Jesus who laid down His life for His sheep. So be of good cheer! Jesus is mindful of you. You will lack nothing in this New Year. Trust Him and confess His love, for Him to act as you have believed. 

Prayer

“Loving Lord, thank You for the words of comfort You have given me today. Thank You Father for coming after a sheep like me, who went astray. You are my good shepherd. Now I have great assurance that You will protect me from all evil. Thank You Lord for all Your blessings showered upon me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
