Wash out your mouth When a friend of mine was growing up, if he used a "dirty" word, his mom would make him bite into a bar of soap. She felt it would wash out his mouth and help remind him to choose cleaner words. As disgusting as it tasted, he learned quickly that his mom was absolutely interested in the words that came out of his mouth. God is just as interested in the words that come out of your mouth too. Not because He's trying to catch you using dirty words to get you into trouble, but because you are the one He has called to tell His message to those around you. "With our tongues we praise our Lord and Father. Yet, with the same tongues we curse people, who were created in God's likeness. Praise and curses come from the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, this should not happen!" (James 3:9,10). The mouth God gave you is for praising Him. How can you use your mouth for good, and not for evil, today?
