God's ImitatorsSample
Introduction
Some things seem to happen all by themselves. Isn't it a marvel to watch our kids grow? Neither they nor we make their bodies stretch like that. It just happens. God built growth into their hormonal system; we feed them and without any special thought on their part, they just get bigger.
Kids are also built with consciences. Their consciences tell them that there is a Higher Power of some kind to which they are accountable. Those consciences, however, usually leave people only with lingering guilt over their selfish words and actions.
All people need to hear the gospel message of Jesus' death and resurrection for their forgiveness. Those of us who are parents have a special charge and command and commission to share the faith with our children because they don't know it by nature. Nobody knows about Jesus by nature. And since parenting is such a long, hard business, the men and women who have children in their homes are grateful for any help they can get.
These devotions are geared for those parent/kid conversations in which God's message is shared in day-to-day life. Children are God's gift to us; what we do with them is our gift back to God.
