Speak up for others I probably don't need to tell you this, but I'm going to anyway. (Because that's what grown-ups do all the time, right?) Are you ready? Here it is: Kids can be mean. Okay, I bet you knew that, didn't you? When you're on the playground, you've seen (or maybe you've been) the kid who gets picked last. Or maybe the kid everybody seems to pick on. You know when you're being picked on. If someone would just stand up for you, it wouldn't be quite so bad. One of the best parts about being Jesus' brother or sister is that you get to be the one to stand up for others. You get to "speak out for the one who cannot speak" (Proverbs 31:8). When you defend someone, when you protect those who are getting picked on, you show what it means to be a true friend. You show them that Jesus loves everybody. You get to be their hero--and a hero for Jesus.
