199 Prayers for My Adult Child

DAY 9 OF 10

For the Child Who Wants to Please the Lord

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

Philippians 2:13

Talk to God

Lord of Hosts, I am so grateful my adult child has a strong desire to do what pleases You. But I also know that when they pursue You wholeheartedly, they also need protection from the Evil One. Please protect them and their vision. Help them to not only begin with You but to end well too. Show up in supernatural ways. Guide them to the next area of ministry with specificity. Please empower them to follow You down difficult paths. Preserve their life and encourage their faith. Give them tenacity and grit. Multiply the work of their hands. Lord, help them find joy in the mundane through a kingdom vision of serving in small places. Help them to be faithful in little. May they work for the renown of heaven rather than the applause of earth. Please protect them from jaded cynicism and church hurt, I pray. Amen.

Think

What an encouragement that we are not alone, that God gives us the power to obey Him in every aspect of our lives.

Take Action

Ask the Lord, “What would make You smile today?” Then do it.

About this Plan

199 Prayers for My Adult Child

When children move out of the house, begin an independent life, and eventually establish their own families, it can be hard to navigate what role you should play as a parent. Mary DeMuth gives parents a language of prayer for their grown-up children. Even though parental fears abound as the sin of this world poses ever-present threats, take your children to the Lord in prayer and know they are loved by the God of the universe.
