Prayers for My Adult ChildSample

For the Child Who Needs to Trust God's Promises
Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Hebrews 10:23
Talk to God
Heavenly Father, thank You for being a promise-keeping God. Nothing You establish can be thwarted. Thank You for Your just and perfect plan. Your ways are higher than mine. I am grateful for Your faithfulness that cannot be averted. I pray for my adult child today because they need to know You keep Your promises both to this world and to them. Help them find You faithful. And when or if they feel disappointed by Your ways and decisions, lift their gaze from the things of earth to the things of heaven where Your perfect will reigns. Please show Yourself strong on their behalf. Reveal Your love to them as they go throughout their day. Please send emissaries of hope, fellow Christ followers, who bring them tangible encouragement. Transform their hopelessness into hopefulness in You, I pray. Amen.
Think
What promises has God kept for you? How has He been faithful throughout your life? Why can He be trusted? When has He offered you hope?
Take Action
In your journal or a note-taking app on your phone, write five ways God has been faithful to your adult child.

About this Plan

When children move out of the house, begin an independent life, and eventually establish their own families, it can be hard to navigate what role you should play as a parent. In this devotional, Mary DeMuth gives parents a language of prayer for their grown-up children. Even though parental fears abound as the sin of this world poses ever-present threats, take your children to the Lord in prayer and know they are loved by the God of the universe.
