O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

Talk to God
Jesus, quench my adult child’s thirst. Where there is relentless grief, please bring a reprieve. Where their dreams seem dormant, show a little sprout of life in this cold, hard winter. Where their trust wanes, show up in completely surprising ways. When life pummels, protect and shelter. Lord, where their worries grow like cancer, let Your provision grow even faster. I pray You will help them search for You. Help them thirst after You and long for You in this desert-like world. I pray they won’t chase money, things, or other people to soothe the ache. May they jump in Your capable and strong arms and rest right there, in the crook of Your love, I pray. Amen.
Think
This is a psalm of David. He wrote it in the desert wilderness of Judah. The imagery makes sense because he literally could have gotten lost and he certainly got thirsty.
Take Action
Pour yourself a tall, cool glass of something to drink, such as juice, tea, iced coffee, or even a slushie. Wait to drink it when you are thirsty. Thank God for quenching your thirst.
