Prayers for My Adult ChildSample

For the Child Steeped in Anxiety
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:6-7
Talk to God
Lord God Almighty, I pray You will conquer all my adult child’s fears in due time. Oh, how those fears can multiply and how they can seem bigger than You. But You are bigger than any fears, worries, perplexities, or questions. Help my adult child to know You see them and that You are so very available to them when they are broken and confused, living from anxiety to anxiety. Usher in a new era of hope and trust in my adult child’s life. Please comfort them as they mature, especially when they see the world getting darker. Help them know You are in control even on days when their fears mount. Rescue their fretting hearts and keep them so close to You this week. Amen.
Think
Anxiety is a beast our world constantly feeds, particularly from social media. We are a product of what we consume; therefore, it’s so important to read the Word of God!
Take Action
Fast from social media this week. Note how doing so affects your general well-being and your anxiety level.

About this Plan

When children move out of the house, begin an independent life, and eventually establish their own families, it can be hard to navigate what role you should play as a parent. In this devotional, Mary DeMuth gives parents a language of prayer for their grown-up children. Even though parental fears abound as the sin of this world poses ever-present threats, take your children to the Lord in prayer and know they are loved by the God of the universe.
