Sermon on the Mount: The BeatitudesSample

Sermon on the Mount: The Beatitudes

DAY 15 OF 30

Day 15:

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. - Matthew 5:7

Living a life marked by mercy

Living a life marked by mercy means letting God’s grace and compassion shape our interactions with others. Micah 6:8 captures God’s desire for us: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” Mercy is not just something we show occasionally; it becomes a way of life, a reflection of God’s love working through us.

We must see people through God’s eyes to embody mercy in our communities. This means being sensitive to the needs and struggles of others and responding with genuine care. Mercy compels us to advocate for the oppressed, comfort the hurting, and extend grace when it is least deserved. It calls us to live out the gospel in practical and powerful ways.

When our lives are marked by mercy, we become instruments of God’s healing and peace. Our actions demonstrate the love of Christ, drawing people closer to Him. Let us pray that God gives us hearts full of compassion, empowering us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly wherever He leads us.

Prayer focus:

Asking God to help you embody mercy in your community.

About this Plan

Sermon on the Mount: The Beatitudes

The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most incredible passages of scripture in the entire Bible. It is the longest passage of Jesus speaking without interruption. The Beatitudes, or attitudes of supreme blessing, are a roadmap for our lives, teaching us to reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in every interaction. Throughout this devotional, we will spend three days on each beatitude, ending with a focus on applying the entirety of it to our daily lives.
