Sermon on the Mount: The BeatitudesSample

Day 16:
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. - Matthew 5:8
Seeking purity in heart
A pure heart is entirely devoted to God, without hidden motives or divided loyalties. Psalm 24:3-4 asks, “Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.” Seeking purity means desiring a heart free from corruption and wholeheartedly focused on God.
To have a pure heart, we must intentionally surrender every part of our lives to God. It involves examining our desires, thoughts, and intentions, inviting the Holy Spirit to reveal anything that doesn’t align with His holiness. Purity in the heart comes from a genuine relationship with God, where His love transforms us and renews our minds.
This journey of seeking purity is not about perfection but about devotion. As we fix our eyes on Jesus and pursue His ways, He purifies our hearts, drawing us closer to His presence. When our hearts are undivided, we are more attuned to God’s voice and can experience a deeper connection.
Prayer focus:
Praying for an undivided heart focused solely on God.

About this Plan

The Sermon on the Mount is one of the most incredible passages of scripture in the entire Bible. It is the longest passage of Jesus speaking without interruption. The Beatitudes, or attitudes of supreme blessing, are a roadmap for our lives, teaching us to reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in every interaction. Throughout this devotional, we will spend three days on each beatitude, ending with a focus on applying the entirety of it to our daily lives.
