The American Bible Challenge Bible Study - Part 1Sample

We’re going to check out a powerful story of courage today in the Old Testament. It takes place in Babylon around 600 BCE, while the Jews were in captivity. Babylon’s King Nebuchadnezzar orders everyone to worship a ninety-foot tall, man-made image of gold, but three followers of God refused. The King threatened to throw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into a blazing furnace. Let’s read what happens next in Daniel chapter 3, verses 16 through 30.
Reflection:
What impresses you about what Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego said to the king in verses 16-18? Were they confident they would not die in the furnace? How did their courage and God’s protection impact the king? Thank God that he is with you in the midst of your trials, and that he will give you the courage you need!
