Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year One

DAY 201 OF 365

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Do you have any unconfessed sin in your life?

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered,” writes David, “Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity” (Psalm 32:1-2). The man, after God’s own heart, did not acknowledge his sin to God. He recounts the penalty for this act: “When I kept silent, my bones grew old…for day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was turned into the drought of summer” (Psalm 32:3-4). God graciously and consistently applied pressure until David relented. The three synonyms for the sin of Psalm 32:1-2 (transgression, sin, and iniquity) occur again in Psalm 32:5 when David acknowledges his disobedience to the Lord. Subsequently, he is forgiven and relieved.

Employment Point: Confess any known sin to God without delay.
