Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample
He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God; many will see it and fear; and will trust in the LORD (Psalm 40:3).
How has God’s deliverance in your life changed your music?
Once again, the Lord snatches David from being destroyed (Psalm 40:1-2). Similarly, God has snatched us from the clutches of the wicked one and saved us. In 1984, my wife and I took a group of teens on a retreat to West Virginia. My teaching topic was music and the songs in the Bible. We examined the lyrics to Exodus 15, Deuteronomy 32, and Revelation 15. The teens decided by the end of the retreat to glorify God through their music. Moreover, we had two young people put their faith in Jesus for salvation. David’s words about the new song are true: “Many will see it and fear; and will trust in the LORD.”
Employment Point: Glorify God for your deliverance with a new song.
About this Plan
Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
