Living in SalvationSample
What are we saved into?
Ephesians 2:19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, (ESV)
If God simply saved us from sin, death, and the grave that would have been amazing in and of itself, but He did far more than that. Christ and His work on the cross is our access to the Father and our passage into heaven. We are saved into a family, and God is our Father.
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (NKJV)
We are sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters in a family with a Good Father.
Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” (NKJV)
If we take a look at the word "Abba" in Greek we find a beautiful definition. Abba- "Father," also used as the term of tender endearment by a beloved child, an affectionate, dependent relationship with their father; "daddy," "papa."
God is now our "daddy" and He longs to spend time with His kids and take care of us, as He tells us in, Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (NIV)
We now have a Father in heaven who paid for our sins, heals our sickness, washes us clean, lives inside of us, loves us, and watches over us. God is indeed good.
Psalm 103: 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (NKJV)
Prayer
Lord, help me better understand and live as a much-loved child. Lord, help me see You as the good Father that You are.
