Living in Salvation

DAY 4 OF 7

A New Creation

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (NKJV)

When we give our lives to Jesus our “sin nature” is crucified with Christ. The Spirit of God is now alive inside of us.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. (NKJV)

Oftentimes I see people come to Jesus and take on a mindset that they are now God’s eternal project. And now for eternity He will be working on them and fixing them up, this is not the Gospel. When we come to Jesus we die and He makes us brand new. We are now a “new creation” in Him.

We are now learning to live in our new identity as a new creation in His love and grace.

God may be working on changing something in us, but that doesn’t mean we are His eternal fixer-upper. He wants us to realize that the old us is dead and He is working to bring the new us to life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (NASB)

The Greek word for new, kainós - fresh, new, unused, novel, "not found exactly like this before."

The Greek word for creation, ktisis - (often of the founding of a city), creation, creature, institution; always of Divine work, an institution, ordinance.

The old us died, and God has created something never seen before in us as we learn to live in our new identity and follow Him.

Prayer

Lord, I ask for a deeper revelation of the cross and your “finished work.” Make your truth a reality in me and empower me to live in my new creation identity in You.
