Living in Salvation

DAY 2 OF 7

What is Salvation?

In Isaiah 9, the Prophet Isaiah prophesied the coming birth and reign of the Prince of Peace. 2,500 years before our Messiah came and fulfilled over 320 prophecies, the Prophet Isaiah saw the coming of the Prince of Peace and His amazing works.

Let’s take a look at it:

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NKJV)

The Prince of Peace. This word for “peace” in the Hebrew is shalom. The word shalom means - completeness, soundness, welfare, peace. Jesus is the governing ruler of our peace, and it’s important to understand that peace is the presence of a person, and that person is Jesus Christ. When we give our lives to Jesus He (the Prince of our completeness, soundness, welfare, and peace) rules over us with His shalom.

It just so happens that shalom has nearly the same meaning as the Greek word that we read for the word salvation in the New Testament, and that word is sózó.

Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost. (NLT)

The Son of Man, Jesus Christ, came to seek out and “save” the lost. This word for “save or saved” in Greek is the word sózó. The word sózó means, save, heal, preserve, rescue.

Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved. (NASB) In other words, no other name or person besides Jesus can rescue, heal, set free, and preserve us.

Salvation is not “praying the sinner’s prayer” and then living however we want and thinking we’ll make it to heaven one day. Salvation is living healed and whole inside and out as we grow in His grace and Holiness.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to this amazing salvation that You paid for on our behalf. Holy Spirit, show me how to walk in Your true freedom of being healed and whole inside and out.
