He Shall Be Called

DAY 6 OF 7

He Shall Be Called | Day 6

It seems that every year, the Holiday season becomes more and more chaotic, causing more and more anxiety. The parties, the family, the travel, the gifts, the money, the expectations, the endless barrage of the push to do more. It can make anyone feel depleted, but we lift our chins and keep a smile on our faces. Where do we turn during this Christmas and other times when life seems to just get to be too much? We need to find somewhere calm and be at peace.

The fifth and last title found in Isaiah 9:6 for Jesus is Prince of Peace. He is the One Who oversees our peace if we are willing to submit to His lordship in all situations. We can, at times, not experience peace due to the desire to be in control and experience human peace. That’s not always the peace that Christ brings. He brings an inner peace amid the chaos of life.

During the Christmas season, we can look for the peace we find in a song or movie, but that’s not real life. God doesn’t tend to show up much in a scripted life but in the mess and the craziness of our realities. There will be tricky things in life, but we can remember that Jesus is always our Peace, Calmness, and Provision in those moments when life seems to be falling to pieces. He is the One who brings hope and is the reason for it all.

One of the things that draws us away from walking with the Prince of Peace is that our minds can wander and desire to focus on things that will pull us from the peace of God. That is why it is crucial to continue to abide in Christ at all times. We focus on and think about the perspective we will experience in our lives. If we focus and dwell on the craziness of life, we will find ourselves caught in the trap of living a chaotic life. Whereas, if we dwell on the Word of God that brings peace, we will have busy seasons, but the busy will not control us.

We will be able to walk through it with grace and empowerment in Christ, not trying to figure it out on our own. He will guide you into perfect peace in your life if you are willing to listen and walk it out.

The Lord desires for His children to live at peace in their lives. So, this Christmas season, when life gets full and busy, don’t try to figure it out or look for a way to cope with unhealthy solutions. Look to Jesus, the Prince of your peace, and seek His help through prayer and connection with Him.

Application:

As you think about the holiday season, what areas do you need Jesus to be your Prince of Peace? How have you allowed your perspective of peace to cause you to not experience Christ’s peace for you? What is one practical and intentional way that you can choose to have Jesus be the Prince of Peace in your life and not try to conjure human peace? It could be as simple as when anxiety comes, you say a quiet prayer or find one or two Bible verses to memorize that bring you peace during this season.
