He Shall Be Called

DAY 4 OF 7

He Shall Be Called | Day 4

Underneath the Christmas season is a scary thing – life with all its pain and discouragement. Christmas tends to be a time when we are of good cheer, but we know it will end, and we will return to the hard of life. What would it be like to go through the Christmas season not holding your breath in worry of what’s coming, knowing that someone will be standing in the gap for you, a defender who is ready to protect and help you?

The third title of Jesus in Isaiah 9:6 is that He will be called mighty God. Let that soak into your mind and heart. Jesus is our Mighty God. He is the Warrior that is going to stand in the gap for us. Unlike a human, Jesus will not fail or forsake you. That's a huge comfort in life and during seasons with lots of pressure.

We tend to look at Jesus as the baby in the manger during Christmas, but He grew up and is mighty. He is the Lion of Judah and a Warrior who desires to show up in your life and help you through the attacks from the devil and the difficult times of life. But you must see Him as mighty and believe He will do something.

To experience Christ as a mighty God in your life, you will need to accept that you cannot do this on your own. You are not enough, but HE IS ALWAYS ENOUGH. You do this by casting your cares, worries, and anxieties on Jesus, and He will walk with you through it all.

Life and even the Christmas season are full of times when we need Jesus to be our Mighty God. The question is, will we turn to Him and ask Him to show Himself strong on our behalf during those times or try to figure it out on our own?

Application:

As you think about the Christmas season, what areas do you need Christ to be your Mighty God? Could it be your finances, relationships, future, or an attack from the devil? How can you practically cast your cares onto Christ and ask Him to be mighty in that situation? It could be journaling about it, talking to a trusted friend, or having a focused time of prayer.
