Loving the people around you isn't always easy. We can struggle to know what to do, or even how to start thinking about love. When Jesus taught his disciples how to love others, he gave them some clear instructions for what love could look like.
In John's gospel, Jesus told his disciples the greatest love was to lay down one's life for one's friends. In Jesus' eyes, sacrifice is an important part of showing love to others. In love, we choose to let go of our own desires for a moment, and put others ahead of ourselves. Love is making the choice to humble ourselves in our relationships and to help our friends, family, and loved ones succeed.
Jesus' words aren't just for one type of relationship, but it's a whole new perspective for how to lead others. Instead of expecting others to carry the whole weight of a relationship or project, Jesus' love helps us see how we can get involved. We can share some of the burden and help others in unexpected ways. When we love others, we'll go above and beyond for them.
When we hear Jesus' words about what love could look like, we might get uncomfortable. He uses strong words and images to help us see just how important it is to love others. Jesus didn't just say these things. He followed through on his love and gives us an example we can look to whenever we need help. Jesus shows us how to choose love.

With God, being a great leader is something anyone can achieve because leadership is simply about becoming the kind of person who's worth following. But how?
