Kendrea & The Dream Thief Sample
“BEING KIND MATTERS”
Kendrea often expressed kindness towards her friends and even towards people who were mean to her. One day while walking to the cafeteria she noticed a third grader's lunch money fall out of her pocket. So Kendrea, got the older girl's attention and explained to her what happened. Instead of being happy and thankful, the third grader rolled her eyes and growled at Kendrea. Even though, the older girl's response made Kendrea think she had done something wrong she remained kind because her Father always said, "Treat others the way you would want to be treated."
Devotional
As God’s children being kind matters to him. Treating one another with kindness means a lot to our heavenly Father because he shows this loving quality towards us. God tells us in his word, “For we must be holy because he is” this means we are to act like our Father and show the same spiritual qualities as him too. Jesus wants us to “be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other just as Christ God forgave you.” When people mistreat us, are rude to us, and isolate us we must always “imitate God” by being “quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry."
Take Kendrea for example, when she was mistreated by the third grader she remembered what her father told her. In the same way, God wants all of his children to remember his words especially; when people are unkind to us. When we remember God’s words it renews our heart, mind and soul and enables us to have good behavior, and treat one another Christ-like.
In addition, “we are in the world but not of the world” and Jesus expects us to act accordingly. That means, other kids, teens, young and older adults might be mean, but we don’t have to be mean with them. Other kids, teens, young and older adults might not listen and be disruptive, but we don’t have to do it with them. As God’s children, we are called to do what’s right even when others are misbehaving.
In summary, God sees all and knows all so be kind and treat people the way Jesus treats you; with love, kindness, goodness and gentleness. Always remember, being kind matters.
