God Is My Dad From A-ZSample
B for Buddy by Sean Teis
I have a habit of calling a lot of people “buddy." It doesn’t matter if it is a guy or girl or if it is someone 30 years younger or 50 years older than me; I will often call them buddy. I just really like the term. If you look up the word buddy, it is defined as “a close friend.” Now, sure, not everyone is my close friend, but I’m sure this term has made a few people feel good along the way.
Most people want to be someone’s buddy or close friend. We all want and need to have some close friendships. It is healthy to have some buddies. Many people have a dad who calls them their “little buddy,” but what about the rest of us? Even as an adult, I still desire to be someone’s buddy. This is one of the most amazing things about God. He can and will fill every little empty area of our lives, including the need to be someone’s buddy! Psalm 23 is a great comparison with us being the sheep and God being the Good Shepherd. He protects us, provides for us, leads us, restores us, and He adores us!
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Psalms 23:1-6
John tells us in 1 John 3 that God has shown so much love to us, and we should be called His children! 1 John 3:1 “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not because it knew him not.” I call my children my buddies. This is a term of endearment of affection to my children, but so much more. We are God’s little buddies. He loves us and cares for us!
I encourage you today to let God love you and rest in the fact that you are His child, and He adores you!

About this Plan
This God is my Dad A-Z Devotional is designed to help you overcome not having an earthly dad and to understand and embrace God as your Dad! A few fatherless individuals (Sara Valin, Amy Gadomski, and Pastor Sean Teis) wrote this devotional for GodismyDad.com, and Jackie Teis helped put it all together! You will find truth from God's Word intertwined with glimpses of the author's stories! All you need to do is work through the alphabet with these devotionals! Let's work through letters A-G together in the first part of this devotional! One letter a day! We understand that being fatherless is difficult, but you can succeed through God as your Dad!
