Jesus treats the weak with great tenderness. A bruised reed will recover, if permitted to be nourished under the influences of heaven. The same goes for a lamp on the verge of being extinguished; the life and light of the expiring light can be supported by the addition of fresh oil. Christ is the hope of glory for the weak and bruised.
Pray:
Lord, nourish me and heal me where I am bruised. Add the fresh oil of your Spirit to reignite my smoldering wick. I pray for poor people across the world who are battered and weary. Lift them up. Give me your grace as I offer myself, in your service, to bring justice. Amen.
