DAY 4 OF 5

ESTHER – STAND UP FOR WHAT’S RIGHT

“With great power comes great responsibility.” If you’re a Spider-Man fan, you’ll recognize this quote from Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben. But he wasn’t the first to say it — God was! (Luke 12:48b).

Simply put, if you have the ability to help others, do it! This is exactly what Esther did.

Esther was humble, wise, and courageous, and rose from small beginnings to become a queen. After she became queen, a royal official, Haman, plotted to destroy all the Jews in the land, including Esther.

But Esther trusted God and knew she had a duty. So, she asked her Jewish subjects to fast and pray. Then, she used her position as queen to approach the king (without permission) and begged him to put an end to Haman’s plan.

She could have been killed just for approaching the king, but because of her courage, the king listened to her. She risked her life, and saved thousands of others.

It can be scary when God calls us to stand up for what’s right, especially if that means risking something, but the result is always worth it!

Talk it out: Why is it hard sometimes to stand up and do the right thing?

Act on it: Think about an area of your life, like school, work, or home, where you can do what’s right even when it’s hard, and do it this week!

Pray about it: Lord, thank You for putting me exactly where I need to be. Give me the courage to stand up for what’s right and trust that You’ll work through me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

About this Plan

eKidz Family Devotional: Ordinary People, Extraordinary God

In the Bible, God didn’t just choose royalty and great heroes to do His will; He also worked wonders through the lives of shepherd boys, wives, orphans, and servants. God can use anyone for His will! Read through this plan with your family to discover it’s not your position in life that determines how God will work through you — it’s the position of your heart.
