DAY 2 OF 5

JOSEPH – TRUST GOD TO WORK FOR YOUR GOOD

Life can feel like a roller coaster ride — filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, and unexpected endings. What matters most though isn’t the struggles we go through, but rather how we respond to them.

Joseph faced several hardships. He was sold into salvery, falsely accused of attacking his master’s wife, and put in prison for over two years. And how did he respond? You might think Joseph went around sad or was angry at the things that happened to him, but he kept his head up and trusted that God would work everything out for the good.

Joseph’s positive response to each new problem turned them into opportunities that God could use. The Bible tells us God “was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.” (Genesis 39:23b) Eventually, Joseph was freed from prison and even became second-in-command over all of Egypt!

Although Joseph experienced hard times, God worked all of them for good, and used them to put Joseph in a position to save millions of people from starvation, including his own family!

Romans 8:28 tells us God works for the good of those who love Him and pursue His purpose. So, just like Joseph did, we can respond to tough situations with trust in God.

Talk it out: How does Joseph’s story encourage you in a tough situation you’re facing now?

Act on it: Challenge yourself to be like Joseph and trust God to work something good out of a tough situation you’re facing.

Pray about it: Lord, thank You for always taking care of me, even in hard times. Help me remember You’re always working for my good and You have greater things in store for me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

About this Plan

eKidz Family Devotional: Ordinary People, Extraordinary God

In the Bible, God didn’t just choose royalty and great heroes to do His will; He also worked wonders through the lives of shepherd boys, wives, orphans, and servants. God can use anyone for His will! Read through this plan with your family to discover it’s not your position in life that determines how God will work through you — it’s the position of your heart.
