Through the Bible: ActsSample
Witnesses for His Glory
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38 (NIV)
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
I am not one who is tech savvy. Receiving a beautiful mobile phone is truly a blessing but activating and realising its full potential is another. This reminds me of our life in Jesus. We are a new creation, made in His likeness, to be perfected in Him, each bearing the potential to excel because the Kingdom of God is in us. A mobile without power is of no avail. We need the Holy Spirit to empower us in all. Connected to the true source of Power, we encounter His salvation, grace, goodness, healing and transformation. God has given us the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth to guide us. As in a mobile phone system, we have the tools but we need to be constantly ‘updated’, living a surrendered life of sanctification in sync with God and having new wineskins to receive new wine from Him in every season. Only in Jesus are we able to be true witnesses of His Glory.
Prayer
Loving Father, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to empower us to live lives of impact, goodness and victory through Jesus. May Your Power overflow through us that we may be witnesses to see Your Kingdom come, Your will be done. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
About this Plan
This book answers the question; ‘What’s next after believing in Jesus?’ Continuing the Gospel of Luke, Acts narrates the birth and development of the early church, and how the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to spread the Gospel. Although it ends abruptly with Paul’s imprisonment in Rome, it leaves room for readers to extend the chapters, by following the footsteps of the early church with our remaining time on earth.
