Okay, So Now What? - Discovering Life in Light of the Resurrection

DAY 3 OF 5

Perhaps one of the ways we can grow the most in our walk with Jesus is through prayer. It is a powerful tool that we have access to at all times. Some might assume prayer needs to be formal, with eyes closed, hands clasped together, and head down, but that’s not true. Prayer can happen with your eyes open or closed, while you’re walking or driving or in the shower when you’re hanging out with friends or by yourself. Prayer can be lengthy and it can also be one sentence. Prayer can be both speaking and listening.

Somewhere along the line people assumed an expectation that we needed to have “the right words” in a prayer, but that is a lie. Prayer is simply sitting in the presence of God, and having a two-way conversation with him. Often, prayer may be more listening and receiving than it is speaking and asking, but we get that turned around.

There are many examples of how we should pray, but one simple way to remember to pray is this:

P - Pause

R - Reflect

A - Ask

Y - Yield

Pause. Take a moment to pause and be still in God’s presence and hear what He wants to speak to you first.

Reflect and give thanks to God for who He is and for what He’s done in your life.

Ask for what you need. Ask for God to move in the lives of others as well.

Yield and ask where you need to repent and find forgiveness. Allow God’s grace to transform you.

Follow this method today in your prayer and add in your own ways to hear from God and speak to Him like he is your best friend because that is who he is.

About this Plan

Okay, So Now What? - Discovering Life in Light of the Resurrection

Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. That's the Easter story many of us have heard, but now what? What does a life look like in light of the resurrection?
