Okay, So Now What? - Discovering Life in Light of the ResurrectionSample

Have you ever gone on an amazing vacation or experienced something so incredible you couldn’t help but tell everyone about it? Typically when we have been a part of a mountaintop experience, we want to share pictures, tell stories, and shine a light on every detail of what happened with the people around us. Experiencing the power of Jesus’ resurrection can be this type of mountaintop experience, but often we get stuck and ask ourselves, “Okay, so now what?” We’ve experienced Jesus, we’ve chosen to follow him, but now we feel clueless about where to begin or what to do.

This week we want to explore some simple suggestions on how to walk with Jesus after experiencing his transformative power in our lives. One of the first times we see people follow Jesus is when Jesus calls his first disciples from a life of fishing to a life of following and walking with him. These men only knew the life of a fisherman, but Jesus invited them to a new kind of life.

What is it for you? What kind of life do you know? What are you so familiar with that Jesus might be calling you out of? We know that Jesus invites us all into a new kind of life as we walk with him, but it requires a sacrifice on our end. When we commit to following Jesus, it is costly. We must leave our old lives behind knowing that life with Jesus will be filled with more peace and wholeness than we could ever imagine.

Jesus, thank you for calling me out of my past and into a new life with you. As I learn to walk with you give me eyes to see things I may need to leave behind and the courage to step into the fullness of life that you offer me. You are worth it all.
