Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"Sample

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Abundant Joy"

DAY 2 OF 28

In life, happiness and sorrow come alternately as a package. A person does not live happily, or in sorrow, all the time. There will be seasons in life that bring us happiness, but there are moments when we have to stay calm during storms. They make life balanced and more interesting.

“But, I want to feel happy all the time..” Yes, you can! There’s this thing that feels like happiness but is not affected by the circumstances. It is called JOY.

Joy is a decision out of a joyful heart and matured mind. We can’t force our surroundings to bring us happiness, but we decide to be joyful no matter what.

Let’s enjoy life with its ups and downs. Remember that whatever it is, God is in control. When we are sad and down, He answers prayers. In joy and happiness, the sad moments become a reminder and lessons learned.

Devotion for Parents
How do we maintain our joy in our everyday lives?

Do your best, but prepare for the worst. Not that we pray for bad things to happen, but to have the awareness that there are always risks involved in every decision we make, no matter how much thought we have put into it. Be prepared.

Devotion for Kids
Do you think things through before you make a decision? This is important so that you minimize the chances of bad things happening, which in turn may reduce your joy.

Then, have you learned to be grateful? Remember that joy comes out of a grateful heart.

Family Devotion Time
Name some things that may cause you to “lose” your joy.

Discuss the promises of God in the Bible related to the experiences you named earlier and how God's promises can restore the joy in your lives.
