The Ultimate Fair Judge

In most sports, there is someone appointed to be judge or referee to make sure the rules are being followed and everything is fair. If you have ever had this role, you know it can be really difficult to make calls when it isn’t totally obvious what happened! It's really hard to be a fair referee all the time, especially when you aren't in a position to see everything that happens at every second.Think about the judges we see in court rooms that are being televised! Everybody watching has an opinion about what should be done and how the judge was right or wrong. It is so hard for a judge to see every side of every argument. That's a lot of pressure! Have you played in a sports match or been a spectator and felt that the referees were unfair? Have you ever just KNOWN that your team would’ve won if the judges or referees had been fair? Or maybe you have felt like you didn’t get the marks on a test that you deserved.

This Psalm describes God as the ultimate judge. He is holy, fair, and equitable in all things. He is the only one who can right all of the wrongs and the only one we can trust to always do the right thing! He sees ALL sides of everything. Because He is the perfect judge, we can trust Him in all things, even when we are disappointed. One day, He will set all things right. Verse 10 shows a graphic picture of God stopping the wicked in their tracks and lifting up the righteous. When we feel hurt, betrayed, or disappointed, our response must be to run to the Lord and rely on His wisdom, His mercy, and His hope. We can listen to His voice to know what steps to take or not to take. He is the ultimate fair judge.
