God’s Peace and Hope for the World

The past few years have been very intense all over the world during the pandemic. We have felt isolated and scared and have needed direction and hope. Maybe in your country or city, or even your home, there have been other issues which have caused unrest and robbed your peace. The psalmist wants deeply for peace to be restored throughout the earth, and he knows there is only one way for that to happen. As followers of Jesus, when we listen to His direction, we can be bridges of the Father's peace and hope for others. We can live with hearts of wisdom and bring His hope to broken places.

In verses 12 -14, the psalmist is very specific about who is on his heart: the needy who cried out, the afflicted who have no one to help, the weak, and those who are oppressed and enduring violence. He knows God is the only one who can answer in these situations. As always, the psalmist wants God’s name to be praised. He wants the whole earth to be filled with the Father's glory. God can give us this same heart and hope so that, instead of feeling despair when there are issues in the world, we will look to Him for solutions and know that He is the answer.

GO DEEP:In your city or country, have you seen people who are oppressed, needy, or afflicted? Do you know someone who has lost a family member? God gives us the privilege to bring His hope and kingdom to those around us. Ask Him what He would like you to do to serve these people and do something! Ask God to give you His heart for your country and for the nations.
