The Power of Thanks

This Psalm comes with a subtitle, an explanation - “for giving thanks!” This is an indication to us that it is a Psalm which is meant to be used regularly. We need to have this one somewhere we can access it readily and often. Perhaps we should even memorise it! Giving thanks is powerful. There are few things quite as powerful as thankfulness! It moves people and situations, it opens doors, it lines us up with the heart and mind of our God! We need to make this song a part of every day. Psalm 100 helps us know HOW to give thanks ...

GO DEEP: Vs 1-2: HOW are we told to give thanks? Did you notice in these verses that joy and gladness are mentioned three times! Worship and praise should overflow from joy, but they also create joy!
Vs 3: Why are we giving thanks and praising God? How are we described?
Vs 4-5: Again we are called to go to God, giving thanks and praise! Take a few minutes to do just that! Write down some of the things God has been doing for you and spend some time thanking Him.

A famous call to praise that runs through the book of Psalms says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His love endures forever!” Psalm 100 has covered the “Give thanks” portion and so ends the Psalm simply saying “For the Lord is good, His love endures forever!” There are many people who do not know that God is good, and His love is forever and unconditional! Maybe they need to hear what you were thanking God for and what He has done for you. Ask God if there is anyone in your circles who needs you.
