Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the PsalmsSample
Weak
We don’t have to spend time working out the theme of today's Psalm - it’s written right at the outset of Psalm 102 - “The lament of an afflicted person who has grown weak and pours out a lament to the Lord.” The Psalms are not little poems or simply literary works of art - they are powerful tools to be used to reign in life! The Psalms are not just songs to sing - as you receive their words you are moved to a stronger place - you are moved to line up with your true purpose! We will all face hard times, we will all face trouble and challenges and pain - we will all grow weak. This song is a tool to be taken out of the tool box when we are afflicted and weak. What can we learn from this lament?
GO DEEP: Vs 1-2: What is our starting point during hard times?
Vs 3-11: How many different pictures does the Psalm use to paint a picture of our pain?
Vs 12: “But you, Lord ...” — this is the turning point in the Psalm - this is the point where we take our eyes off our pain - we have laid it out before our God in many different ways - and now we choose to leave it with Him and begin to declare truth about who our God is and what He does!
What is declared about God in verses 12 & 17? How does this truth give us hope?
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
