Psalms Streak: A Daily Devotional in the PsalmsSample
Shifted Strategy
As we started to get into Psalm 106 yesterday, our strategy about prayer began to shift - we saw that it wasn’t about convincing our king that we were good - rather, prayer reminds us about how good HE is! When we forget the kindnesses of our God we begin to make our own plans. Prayer lines us up with God‘s plans. As we remember His kindnesses, we wait on His plans. As Psalm 106 began to dig up the history of man’s rebellion, we saw that God‘s mercy saved us every time! The second half of this Psalm shows us something new - key people in history stepped up and caused God to respond to rebellion with mercy! Prayer and worship will bring us closer to God's plans for this world - plans of generosity and kindness...that include us! Let’s see what we can learn from the second half of Psalm 106:
GO DEEP: Vs 23: The rebellion of the people had gone so far that God was going to bring judgement, until Moses stood in the gap for them and asked for forgiveness! God listened to Moses! Spend a few minutes asking God if there are people that need His generosity and kindness, and you can be part of His plan for them. Ask Him to show you the first step you need to take.
In verse 30, who is used by God to save thousands of people from a plague?
Vs 43-45: The Psalm ends by returning to the key theme - we may forget God‘s kindnesses, but He always remembers! His response to us is always with great love! Spend your time with God by thanking Him for His great love, and praying for those people that need someone to stand in the gap for them.
BE BOLD: Who needs to hear this? Who could you share it with?
