Truths to Live By

If life was a long distance race, this Psalm would be the right pair of shoes to get you to the finish line! If life was a battle and you were a soldier, this Psalm would be your sword and shield. If you were a boxer, this Psalm would keep you from beating the air. If you were a sailor, this Psalm would keep you from being blown and tossed by the wind. If you were a farmer… You get the idea! This Psalm begins with truths to live by – truths that will guard you and keep you on the right path! Truths we need to make our starting point every day. We are going to focus on the truths of the first eight verses, the remaining 37 verses tell story after story of God's wonders! Let’s see what we can learn from the first eight verses:

GO DEEP: Vs 1-2: The Psalm kicks off by going further than just calling us to praise and worship – we need to let the world know of God's wonderful acts! Faith and power are released when we tell God stories - God's stories in your life, and God's stories in history! Spend a few minutes with God, ask Him if there are people around you today that need to know how wonderful He is.
Vs 3: Seeking the Lord ends in rejoicing! You look for God and He will reveal Himself to you! How can we make this a lifestyle we live by? How can we be looking for Him every day?
Vs 5-8: Think through these verses carefully - they will change how every day looks! Spend a few minutes meditating on them - write them down - they will give us strength for today and faith for tomorrow! Our God is the only one of whom it can be said, 'He can keep His promises for 1000 generations!' He is the only one of whom it can be said, 'His wonders are in all the earth!' Be on the lookout for them today - His wonders and His faithfulness are everywhere!
