Uncuffed: Bulletproofing the Police MarriageSample
What Does God Say About Sexual Sin?
“Marriage is to be honored by all, and husbands and wives must be faithful to each other. God will judge those who are immoral and those who commit adultery.”
~ Hebrews 13:4
Let’s look at the key scripture, and you tell us what you think God is trying to say. The sanctity of marriage is affirmed in Hebrews with a very straightforward and powerful word about sex and sin.
I’m not sure about you, but as far as marital sex advice goes, it doesn’t get much better or simpler than that. Keywords from this verse that jump out at me are; honor – faithful – judge.
In the hero life, these words are key descriptors of what we do, and how we feel about doing the job. If we’re willing to lay our life down for strangers based on these key terms, then why can’t we lay down our temptations for sexual sin?
God’s not boring or dull or only found on the dusty pages of a book in the drawer. He is alive and active in our lives to the extent that we allow Him to be. Sex was created to be enjoyed and the special connection that pulls a husband and wife together. Any other way and we’re just wrong.
CALL TO ACTION:
We want you to know that even if sexual sin has caused damage in your marriage that God loves you both and wants you to be restored. Marriages can survive and thrive after an affair or other sin offenses.
Forgiveness, repentant hearts, and a willingness to remain together and repair, rebuild and restore your relationship is possible. But, it begins with confession and forgiveness. Pray about sexual sin and ask God to give you the words to confess to your spouse. It’s tough, but this is the only way to know the peace of forgiveness.
