90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for WomenSample
Have you ever looked at your situation and thought, “Why me? Why this addiction?” I mean, wouldn’t it be a lot easier to confess to others if it were something else? I think you’re in good company. I don’t know what “thorn in the flesh” Paul is referring to in 2 Corinthians—perhaps it was pride or a physical ailment. At any rate, God left it there so that Paul could not boast in his own glory, but forever be reminded that it is God alone who is to be praised.
And not only that, God clearly states here, “My grace is sufficient for you. My power works best in weakness.” This makes complete sense to me now, though it didn’t always. Why would God want me to be weak? It’s not about weakness; it’s about humility. It keeps us human. If I were strong of will and of mind, I wouldn’t need to rely on God to get through. And the same is true of you.
God desires to be your everything. It goes back to our devotional on His jealousy for you. God works best when He doesn’t have competition for your heart.
Think about the thorn in your flesh. If it weren’t there to keep you humble, would you be as quick to run to God in times of trouble?
