Today’s scripture is a bit longer than usual, but happens to be one of my favorites. It doesn’t mess around. The start of it seems a bit intense, but in the end (as you’ll see tomorrow), there’s a promise for each of us.
In the Old Testament, Israel serves as an example for us who are under the new covenant of Jesus Christ. God was so in love with Israel’s people that He grew jealous when He watched them worship idols and disobey His commandments. And there were significant consequences for their actions.
The same is true of our relationship with God. It says in Deuteronomy 6:15 that the Lord our God is a jealous God. He grows jealous when we choose to worship idols instead of Him.
Think of a time when you were jealous. What happened? How did it make you feel? And what was your response?
