90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for WomenSample
After dealing honestly with yourself, it’s time to deal honestly with God through the act of repentance—confessing to God the known and recently unknown sins related to your sexual addictions. You may be thinking that you’ve already done that by asking God to reveal to you what was unknown to you. Well, not exactly.
God already knows the sins of your heart, yes, but the previous exercises were for you to deal honestly with yourself. These were exercises in coming to an understanding of your true condition beyond the sexual sins. There was no repentance or confession to God, or at least there was no instruction to do so.
It’s important to differentiate repentance from confession. Repentance is more. Repentance is defined by a change of mind, a turning away, a turn from. Meaning, a turning away from sin. Repentance is also about seeking forgiveness. When someone seeks your forgiveness, you expect them to not offend you in the same way again. The same is true of repentance to God.
In the same posture of surrender, confess your sins to God today, asking Him to forgive you and for the strength to turn away.
