There's Hope For Today

DAY 94 OF 366

Have you ever noticed that things often get worse when you commit yourself to fasting and prayer?

I don’t say that to discourage you, but rather, to draw attention to the effectiveness of a prayer priority. Your adversary, the devil, is especially contented with a lukewarm variety of Christianity. He has discovered that prayerless churches and prayerless Christians do him no harm. In fact, the prayerless church does much to foster an environment in which the great deceiver can work his dark arts. When we pray, we should not be surprised by increased troubles. James says that we are to resist. Resistance is offered in the face of attack. In times of leisure and rest, no resistance is required. When troubles are greatly increased, anchor deep in the Word of God and hold on. It won’t be long before a victory is won.

Immature Christians make the grave error of thinking that their trial is evidence that they are doing something wrong, when, in fact, that very trial is evidence that they are doing something right. Keep holding out, even when it seems that your prayers are stirring up more trouble.

Satan wants us to believe that he is inexhaustible, when, in truth, he suffers a crippling lack of endurance. Hold on!
