There's Hope For TodaySample
KRAZNOYARSK, SIBERIA, 1999: The young man sitting across the table told us of his missionary calling to China.
His eyes flashed with that determined excitement that marks people of strong passion. At twenty-two years of age, he was already a leader in his church. He was preparing himself, waiting for God’s open door. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was looking at the next Taylor or Livingstone, so great was his passion. “How did you come to know Jesus?” I asked. He pointed to the copy of the Book of Hope on the table. “I received that book from Americans in 1992 when they came to our school,” he said. “I read the book, came to the meetings and accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior.” I shook my head in awe and wonder. This young man was just one of dozens of converts I had met from that first Siberian distribution. In the classrooms they were just beautiful, dark-eyed children, anxious to receive a gift from their visitors. Now they were leaders, pastors, and missionaries.
The leaders of tomorrow sit in the schoolrooms of the world today. They need to know that there is a God who loves them and that there is hope for tomorrow. They need God’s Word. If we will reach them, we can change the world.
